Missouri farmers had 5.7 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 5, 2023. Temperatures last week averaged 43.0 degrees Fahrenheit, 7.7 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.49 inches, 0.68 inches below normal.

Soil Moisture

  • Topsoil moisture supply rated 11% very short, 36% short, and 53% adequate.
  • Subsoil moisture supply rated 22% very short, 34% short, and 44% adequate.

Crop Progress

  • Corn harvested for grain reached 89%, compared to the 5-year average of 86%.
  • Soybeans harvested reached 84%, compared to the 5-year average of 69%.
  • Cotton harvested reached 84%, compared to the 5-year average of 73%.
  • Winter wheat planted reached 78%, compared to the 5-year average of 70%.
  • Winter wheat emerged reached 55%, compared to the 5-year average of 48%.

Winter Wheat Condition

  • Winter wheat condition rated 3% poor, 33% fair, 55% good, and 9% excellent.
