MSU-WP Career Fair Opens Doors for Jobseekers

By Blake Jackson

Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Career Services is hosting a Career Fair on Thursday, February 27. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center, located at 323 W. Trish Knight Street, West Plains. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Career Fair aims to connect jobseekers, including students, alumni, and community members, with employers from various industries. Attendees can explore career opportunities, network with potential employers, and apply for open positions during the event.

Employers from fields such as healthcare, education, agriculture, retail, law enforcement, banking, and hospitality are expected to participate. Those interested in reserving a booth can contact Career Services at 417-244-7230 or WPCareer@MissouriState.edu by February 21.

Jobseekers are encouraged to come prepared. Career Services Director Lindsey Hicks advises attendees to dress professionally, bring 10–15 copies of updated résumés, and be ready to discuss their skills and experiences. “Some helpful tips to the job seekers are to dress professionally, bring 10-15 copies of your resume, allow time to talk with employers, prepare a summary of your skills, practice your 30–second commercial/elevator speech, and bring a list of questions to ask employers,” said Hicks.

For more information, jobseekers can reach Career Services at 417-255-7230 or email WPCareer@MissouriState.edu. This event is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career journey.
