Free Beef Conference in Monett for Forage and Livestock

Free Beef Conference in Monett for Forage and Livestock

By Blake Jackson

Forage and livestock producers in southwest Missouri are invited to the inaugural Monett Beef Conference and trade show on February 18, 2025.

The event, aimed at helping producers enhance herd health and increase profits, will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Scott Regional Technology Center, located at 2 David Sippy Drive, Monett.

The conference will feature a variety of expert speakers. University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist Ian McGregor will address forage-based cow nutrition, while state beef nutritionist Eric Bailey will discuss nutrition and management strategies for finishing cull heifers.

Bill Brooks, an instructor at Northwest Missouri State University, will offer insights into the 2025 beef industry outlook.

“Feed tends to be the largest expense for most cattle operations,” says McGregor. “This conference will provide science-based information to help cattle producers optimize the efficiency of their feed resources to improve cattle performance and widen profit margins.”

The event will also include a trade show where attendees can meet with industry representatives to explore products and services that support livestock operations.

While the event is free, reservations are requested by February 14 to ensure meals and seating. For registration, contact McGregor at ian.mcgregor@missouri.edu or call the MU Extension Center in Lawrence County at 417-466-3102.
