As fall approaches, the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center in Blue Springs, Missouri, invites the community to join a special event dedicated to supporting monarch butterflies on their journey to Mexico. On August 24, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, participants can learn how to prepare their gardens to aid these remarkable migrators.
The event will kick off with a formal presentation led by the knowledgeable staff of Burr Oak Woods at 9:00 am. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to spend time in the gardens, where they can put their newfound knowledge into practice. Extension Master Gardeners will be on hand to provide guidance and answer any questions.
All necessary materials for garden preparation will be provided to participants. However, those who prefer to use their own gardening tools, such as gloves and hand tools, are welcome to bring them along.
This event, offered at no cost, is a collaboration between the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center.
It promises to be an informative and engaging experience for anyone interested in contributing to the conservation efforts for monarch butterflies as they embark on their seasonal migration.
