Top Farm Bureau honors announced for 2025

By Jamie Martin

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has awarded its highest honors for 2025 to two prominent figures in agriculture. Collin Peterson received the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award, and Mark Haney was honored with the Farm Bureau Founders Award.

Both awards are recognition of their significant contributions to the agriculture sector and will be presented during the AFBF’s 106th Convention in San Antonio.

Collin Peterson, who served over 40 years in Congress and as chair of the Agriculture Committee, played a pivotal role in the passage of several farm bills. His ongoing dedication to agriculture is evident through his work with the Midwest Council on Agriculture and his own firm, the Peterson Group, which focuses on agricultural and economic policy.

Mark Haney, with over three decades of service at the Kentucky Farm Bureau and as its longest-serving president, has been a driving force in advancing agricultural policies and initiatives that support farmers' interests. His efforts include the Certified Farm Market Program and the Legacy Farm Program, which have significantly aided local farmers.

"We’ve worked together on so many things," said Peterson, expressing his gratitude upon receiving the award. "It’s a high honor to get this award. I appreciate it."

Their awards underscore a lifetime of dedication to enhancing agricultural policy, advocacy, and development, ensuring that the sector continues to thrive and adapt in changing times. Both Peterson and Haney's careers exemplify leadership and commitment to the agricultural community, reflecting the core values of the Farm Bureau.
