The University of Missouri Extension and the Missouri Farmers Market Association are collaborating to offer a three-part lunch ’n’ learn webinar series in February focused on starting and sustaining farmers markets.
The webinars aim to help small farmers and food producers by enhancing access to local foods and providing them with the tools to grow their businesses.
According to MU Extension horticulturist Justin Keay, “MU Extension is partnering with the Missouri Farmers Market Association on this event to support the shared goal of increasing access to local foods and providing a place for small farmers and food producers to grow their businesses.”
The sessions will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on February 4-6. Topics covered will include market rules and regulatory considerations, how to create a market identity, and liability issues.
A panel of experienced farmers market managers will also share their knowledge on forming partnerships and securing sponsorships to ensure market success and longevity. Additionally, participants will receive resources to help them manage their markets effectively.
“Join us as we dive in for discussion and dialogue to explore the many details useful in growing great farmers markets in Missouri,” said Karissa Kay, president of the Missouri Farmers Market Association.
Registration for the webinar series is available at https://extension.missouri.edu/events/starting-and-sustaining-a-farmers-market-lunch-n-learn-webinar-series.
Keay emphasized that the webinar series would also provide valuable insights that will be expanded upon during the Missouri Farmers Market Association Conference on February 23-24 in Neosho. At the conference, participants will have the opportunity to engage with current and aspiring market managers.
In addition to the webinar series for market managers, MU Extension will offer a Selling at the Farmers Market webinar for vendors from March 10-14.
