University of Missouri Extension in Benton County, in collaboration with Lincoln University Extension, will hold a Backyard Laying Hen Workshop 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw.
Participants will learn basic management practices to ensure a healthy backyard flock in addition to biosecurity, licensing and labeling requirements, processing, washing and grading eggs, said Heather Conrow, event coordinator and MU Extension field specialist in livestock. Hands-on opportunities will include equipment demonstrations and processing, candling and grading eggs.
