Calling all chicken enthusiasts! University of Missouri Extension in Benton County, partnering with Lincoln University Extension, is hosting a Backyard Laying Hen Workshop on Saturday, February 24th, 1-4 PM, at the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw.
This workshop is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to raise a healthy and productive flock of backyard hens. Whether you're a seasoned poultry pro or just starting out, you'll gain valuable insights on:
- Essential management practices: Learn how to keep your hens happy and healthy, from proper housing and nutrition to disease prevention.
- Biosecurity know-how: Understand the importance of biosecurity measures to protect your flock and prevent the spread of disease.
- Regulations and licensing: Get clear information on local regulations, licensing requirements, and labeling guidelines for selling eggs.
- Processing, washing, and grading: Master the art of processing your eggs, including cleaning, candling, and grading for quality.
The workshop will also feature hands-on demonstrations, allowing you to see various equipment in action and practice processing, candling, and grading eggs yourself.
