Dairy organizations from the United States and Mexico have expanded their commitment to collaboration following the conclusion of the 2026 U.S.-Mexico Binational Dairy Summit in Querétaro, Mexico.
The three-day event gathered industry leaders to discuss key issues affecting dairy production, processing, trade, and consumer demand. Representatives from the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), the U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC), and major Mexican dairy organizations participated in the discussions.
“The dairy trade relationship between the United States and Mexico is a true success story as our industries have grown in parallel for over three decades” said Gregg Doud, president and CEO of NMPF. “Central to that success is an open dialogue. We look forward to continuing work together to address shared challenges and develop our markets together.”
A central focus of the summit was maintaining a strong and competitive dairy industry in both countries. Participants supported policies that encourage growth, improve market opportunities, and strengthen the dairy supply chain.
One of the most significant developments from the meeting was the introduction of a shared commitment to support young dairy farmers. Industry leaders agreed to increase the exchange of information and experiences to help prepare the next generation of producers for future opportunities and challenges.
Delegates also highlighted the importance of innovation in dairy farming and processing. Collaboration on new ideas and technologies was identified as a valuable way to improve efficiency and support long-term industry success.
In addition, the organizations committed to promoting the nutritional value of dairy products. Leaders noted that educating consumers about dairy's role in healthy diets can help support future demand for milk and dairy products.

We appreciate Mexico hosting this important event and we look forward to maintaining this critical relationship to support our farmers on both sides of the border.”
The summit occurred as the United States and Mexico continue discussions connected to the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Dairy industry representatives have remained actively involved in these discussions, providing input to trade officials and supporting constructive dialogue between the two nations.
Participants concluded that continued cooperation and open communication are essential for addressing shared challenges and building stronger dairy markets. The organizations pledged to work together in the coming months on trade, innovation, nutrition, and programs that encourage young people to pursue careers in dairy farming.
