Farmers and ranchers interested in grassfed beef production can attend a free workshop on March 20, 2025, at the MU Southwest Research, Extension, and Education Center in Mount Vernon, Missouri. The event, organized by MU Extension, the MU Center for Regenerative Agriculture, and the Missouri Forage and Grassland Council, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This in-person workshop offers a full day of learning, networking, and discussions on grassfed beef production. Attendees will explore key topics such as market research on consumer preferences, meat tenderness and quality, and results from grassfed beef nutrient density testing. Additionally, experts will discuss strategies for fall and winter grazing, as well as forage options for summer growth and finishing. A producer panel will also share insights on warm-season forage management.
The event includes a catered lunch, but registration is required to ensure an accurate meal count. The day will conclude with an optional field tour showcasing cover crop grazing and grass-finished steers. Participants will have opportunities to connect with other producers and industry specialists. For more details, contact Caleb O’Neal or Adam Boman at onealc@missouri.edu.
