Missouri soybeans names Blake Barlow director of research

By Blake Jackson

Missouri Soybeans appoints Blake Barlow as its new Director of Research and Agronomy. Barlow brings expertise in agricultural research and sales to the role, aiming to drive innovation for Missouri soybean farmers.

He will collaborate with the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council to select and manage research projects funded by the state's checkoff program. This includes plant breeding, biotechnology, and practical agronomic projects.

Additionally, Barlow will act as a liaison between regional and national soybean organizations, fostering collaboration with universities, industry leaders, and government agencies.

"Barlow's experience and passion for innovation are a perfect fit," said Gary Wheeler, CEO of Missouri Soybeans. "He will play a key role in developing solutions to boost productivity and sustainability for Missouri soybean farms, ensuring checkoff funds are used effectively."

Barlow, raised in a Missouri farm family with a seed sales legacy, holds degrees in agriculture business and plant science. He and his wife, involved in agricultural research, continue to support their family farm.

Barlow's prior roles at Bayer Crop Science and Bartlett Grain Company involved research planning, technology development, and sales of agricultural products. "This is an exciting chance to help Missouri soybean farmers advance through cutting-edge research," Barlow said. "I'm eager to collaborate and ensure the checkoff program benefits all Missouri soybean farmers."
