Montana NRCS seeks applications for land easements

Montana NRCS seeks applications for land easements

By Blake Jackson

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Montana is currently inviting applications for the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) Entity Held Easements. In order to be eligible for funding in the ongoing cycle, producers and landowners are encouraged to submit their applications by March 8, 2024.

The RCPP aims to facilitate collaboration between NRCS and partners to enhance collective efforts in addressing on-farm, watershed, and regional natural resource concerns. This notice pertains to the RCPP Entity Held Easement project focusing on the Missouri Headwaters and Lower Gallatin Basin, specifically the Gallatin Valley Project.

The Gallatin Valley Land Trust serves as the lead partner for this initiative, covering the lower section of the Gallatin Basin and extending into the headwaters of the Missouri River at the confluence of the Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson rivers.

While NRCS accepts conservation program applications year-round, those seeking consideration for the upcoming funding cycle must submit their applications by the deadline of March 8, 2024. Applications received after this date will be considered in the subsequent funding cycle, emphasizing the importance of timely submissions for prospective participants. Additional information about active RCPP projects in Montana is available on the NRCS Montana website.
