A senior service hydrologist at the National Weather Service in St. Louis says the rains that came to Missouri over the weekend were hit and miss.
Mark Fuchs says the best rainfall was along the western side of the state between Warrensburg and Independence, getting more than one inch of rain. He says a half inch or less was noted in other areas of the state with a few exceptions.
“The driest areas that really got robbed were northeast and southeast Missouri. There are even areas of central Missouri that didn’t get squat, including Moniteau and Cole Counties.”
He says even in areas with decent weekend rainfall, the rains are still at or below average for this time of the year and there’s not much rain in the short-term forecast.
