Nature photography is a pastime everyone can enjoy, but using the proper techniques can turn an interesting photo into a picture you'll want to frame as a keepsake and share with family and friends.

People can get tips from nationally known nature photographer Tim Ernst on Dec. 6 at the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) program "Nature Art: An Evening with Tim Ernst." This free program, which is for all ages, will be from 5-6 p.m. at MDC's Springfield Conservation Nature Center. People can register for this program at mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/170535

People can enjoy an evening talking photography with Ernst, who will be sharing images from his latest book Arkansas Splendor. Ernst will be available for a book signing from 6-7 p.m. and from 8-9 p.m. A preview of his recent work can be found at Timernst.com.

The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is located in southeast Springfield at 4601 S. Nature Center Way. Information about nature center events can be obtained by calling 417-888-4237 or by going to mdc.mo.gov/springfield
