$40K Grants Available to Boost Missouri Dairy Farms

$40K Grants Available to Boost Missouri Dairy Farms

By Blake Jackson

University of Missouri Extension dairy specialist Chloe Collins is encouraging dairy producers to apply for the Dairy Producer Margin Enhancement Initiative Grant, offered by the Missouri Department of Agriculture.

Collins, who supports dairy producers in Christian, Douglas, Howell, Ozark, Taney, Texas, Webster, and Wright counties, is available by appointment for phone consultations and farm visits. She assists producers in developing project ideas and reviewing draft applications to help strengthen their submissions.

The competitive grant program offers up to $40,000 per project, funding 75% of eligible expenses to support Grade A dairy operations in enhancing efficiency, expanding production, and investing in herd or facility upgrades.

Eligible uses include equipment purchases, facility improvements, herd expansion, and advanced breeding technologies. Applicants must provide a 25% cash match.

Applications are due by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, and will be evaluated based on feasibility, impact, and project readiness.

While Collins can help with project planning and application review, she cannot prepare applications for producers. Those outside her service area or involved in other commodities can visit the MU Extension website to locate the appropriate specialist for their region or production type.
