The Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation is inviting community members to participate in its annual Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K Run Walk, an event dedicated to supporting agricultural education and strengthening public understanding of farming.
Agriculture remains a vital industry, yet many young people have limited opportunities to learn where their food and fiber originate. The Foundation’s agricultural literacy programs are designed to address this challenge by providing educational resources and hands-on learning experiences that connect students with modern farming.
The annual fundraiser has become an important platform for raising awareness about agriculture while generating financial support for youth education programs. “The Lace Up for Ag Literacy Run started six years ago to support our Foundation’s efforts in educating kids about the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives,” said DEFB Foundation Chair Bill Powers. “Because of fundraisers like this, we are able to go into classrooms and youth groups and bring agriculture to them.”
