The 97th annual Barry County Soil & Crops Conference will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the First Christian Church, located at 905 Old Exeter Road in Cassville. Aimed at beef producers in southwestern Missouri, the event will share up-to-date insights to support farm decision-making, said Ian McGregor, University of Missouri Extension livestock field specialist.
“This longstanding conference continues to provide agricultural producers with timely information to help their operation remain resilient in an ever-changing agricultural environment,” McGregor said.
A panel of local veterinarians Mike Bloss of Countryside Animal Clinic in Aurora, Voyd Brown of Barry County Vet Clinic in Cassville, and Briana Isakson of Dake Veterinary Clinic in Miller will review current livestock health issues, followed by a question-and-answer session.
“Herd health is an important aspect of beef cattle management that can greatly affect the bottom line of any livestock business, and the opportunity to be able to ask questions with three great veterinarians at once is rare,” McGregor said.
Additional presentations will cover pregnancy diagnosis economics and forage efficiency. A brisket and pulled pork meal begins at 6 p.m. Registration costs $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
