Boost your farm with free Ag research expo in Missouri

By Blake Jackson

The University of Missouri’s T.E. “Jake” Fisher Delta Research, Extension, and Education Center (FD-REEC) is inviting the public to its second annual Ag Research Expo on Thursday, August 22nd. This event will offer farmers and the community an opportunity to learn about the latest agricultural research and interact with industry experts.

The expo will combine traditional field day activities with an indoor experience, allowing attendees to explore research firsthand and engage with various agricultural suppliers, government agencies, and associations.

“The Ag Research Expo is a great way for Missouri’s agricultural producers to talk directly with some of the top researchers in the country,” said FD-REEC Director Aaron Brandt. “We love the opportunity to share our work and know that it will help Missouri farmers improve their own practices. Having industry partners onsite makes it possible for farmers to return home and make well-informed choices for their operations.”

From 7 a.m. to noon, attendees can participate in self-guided field tours, engage in interactive discussions with researchers and industry professionals, witness live equipment demonstrations, and attend market outlook presentations. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

The expo will feature presentations on various topics, including cotton pest management, peanut cultivation, soybean planting strategies, rice production, and soybean disease management.

Additionally, industry partners such as BASF, Bayer, Corteva, and John Deere will be on-site to showcase their latest products and technologies.

Established in 1959, the FD-REEC is dedicated to conducting research and providing educational resources to support the agricultural community in Southeast Missouri.

The center’s 1,119 acres of land across five locations serve as a platform for studying key crops like soybeans, cotton, rice, grain sorghum, wheat, and peanuts.

The Ag Research Expo will be held at Rone Hall, located at 102 County Road 308, Portageville, Missouri. Admission is free, and no registration is required.

This event promises to be a valuable resource for farmers and agricultural enthusiasts seeking the latest information and innovations in the industry.
