The Missouri Soybean Association (MSA) has announced the launch of the Policy Leaders Fellowship (PLF) program, aimed at cultivating the next generation of agricultural and policy leaders. In collaboration with the Iowa Soybean Association, this one-year fellowship offers soybean farmers an immersive experience in government and legislative processes, equipping them with essential leadership and advocacy skills.
Through PLF, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the policies, laws, and regulations impacting agriculture, the soybean industry, and rural America. The program emphasizes the importance of policy advocacy and a unified voice in today's political landscape. It also provides networking opportunities and travel experiences, fostering connections with industry leaders and highlighting the significance of partnerships.
Selected applicants, one from each crop reporting district in Iowa and Missouri, will embark on this transformative journey. Candidates with a keen interest in agricultural policy education and active involvement in their state soybean associations are encouraged to apply. The application process is open until July 31 and can be completed online.
The PLF program will commence with a joint meeting of participants from both states in Jefferson City, Missouri, on August 24-25. National-level speakers and mentors will contribute to the event, which will be hosted at the Center for Soy Innovation. Throughout the fellowship, participants will engage in networking, develop a foundational understanding of legislative processes, advocate for agriculture, and enhance their personal leadership skills.
The program is made possible through the support of Missouri soybean farmers and their checkoff. The selected participants will be announced in early August.
