Farm Rescue is expanding its operations into Missouri, providing a new source of emergency assistance for farm and ranch families facing serious injuries, illness, or natural disasters.
The nonprofit organization announced Missouri will become the 11th state included in its service area, with harvest assistance beginning in fall 2026. Additional services, including planting, haying, commodity hauling, and livestock feeding support, will also be available at no cost to qualified families.
Founded in 2005 by North Dakota native Bill Gross, Farm Rescue has spent more than two decades helping agricultural families continue operating during times of crisis. Since its launch, the organization has supported more than 1,250 farm and ranch families while contributing thousands of volunteer hours to complete critical seasonal work.
“Our mission is to provide farmers and ranchers the operational support they need so their families and legacies can continue,” said Tim Sullivan, Executive Director of Farm Rescue.
“Expanding into Missouri allows us to stand alongside more families when they need it most and help keep their operations moving forward during incredibly difficult times.”
The organization sends trained volunteers and modern farm equipment to assist with time-sensitive jobs while following each family’s specific management practices, including planting methods, seeding rates, and livestock care protocols.
This approach helps producers focus on recovery without relying heavily on neighbors or local communities already facing their own demands.
Missouri agricultural leaders praised the expansion into the state.
“Farm Rescue brings critical support to farm families when they need it most,” said Casey Wasser, CEO and executive director of Missouri Soybeans.
“Farming is more than an occupation - it’s a way of life, and when challenges arise, having organizations willing to step in and help can make all the difference. We are proud to support efforts that strengthen Missouri’s farm families and the communities they call home.”
A 2024 impact study found that every dollar invested in Farm Rescue generates more than $10 in economic value for farm families and rural communities.
With Missouri now added, Farm Rescue serves producers in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Applications for assistance are currently being accepted through the organization’s website and hotline at 701-252-2017.
