Five MO youth take charge as pork ambassadors

Five MO youth take charge as pork ambassadors

By Blake Jackson

The Missouri Pork Expo announced its 2024 Youth Pork Ambassadors, recognizing five outstanding young leaders in the state's swine industry. These individuals will spend the next year representing Missouri pork at various events, gaining valuable experience and advocating for the industry they're passionate about.

Among them is Emma Robinson, a soon-to-be agricultural educator with a knack for entrepreneurship. She runs her own meat market alongside working on her family farm and actively participates in FFA leadership roles. Bailey Schneider, another future agricultural educator, balances her studies with helping on her family farm and contributing to numerous organizations like 4-H and FFA.

Lena Stricklin, with plans to pursue dental hygiene, brings a unique perspective to the program. She raises and sells show pigs while actively engaging in various school and community activities. Leah Thompson, aiming for a career in business and communication, showcases her diverse interests through her involvement in FFA, leadership councils, and church activities. Rounding out the group is Nicholas Van Schyndel, who plans to major in animal sciences. He works on his family farm, participates in several organizations, and holds leadership positions within FFA.

These young leaders represent the future of Missouri's pork industry, demonstrating dedication, ambition, and a passion for agriculture. Their year as ambassadors will provide them with valuable opportunities to connect with industry professionals, hone their leadership skills, and promote the importance of pork production in Missouri.
