Missouri soybean producers are set to benefit from new market opportunities as GROWMARK announced plans to commercialize SOYLEIC high-oleic soybeans, expanding demand for value-added soybean production and highlighting Missouri’s role in agricultural innovation.
SOYLEIC soybeans are a high-oleic, low-linolenic variety developed through decades of research at the University of Missouri. The soybeans offer improved oil stability and enhanced performance for both food and industrial uses.
The commercialization agreement represents a major step in moving SOYLEIC from research and pilot production into broader commercial adoption across the Midwest.
“This is a pivotal moment for SOYLEIC and for the farmers who have invested in bringing this innovation to market,” said Bryan Stobaugh, director of commercialization and licensing for Missouri Soybeans.
“This partnership moves SOYLEIC from promising technology to real commercial scale, creating tangible market opportunities and added value for growers.”
Under the agreement, GROWMARK will work to expand seed availability, develop market channels, and support growers interested in adopting SOYLEIC varieties. Demand is expected to grow among processors seeking longer shelf life, improved functionality, and domestically produced high-oleic soybean oil.
“Commercializing SOYLEIC high-oleic soybeans is a strong step forward in delivering added value to our farmers and member cooperatives,” said Keith Lawson, Vice President, Seed Division, GROWMARK.
“This partnership connects innovation with market demand and positions our growers to capture new opportunities in the high-oleic soybean space.”
