Hands-On Gardening Workshop for Small-Scale Farmers

Hands-On Gardening Workshop for Small-Scale Farmers

By Blake Jackson

Gardeners, small-scale farmers, and those just starting in agriculture have an opportunity to enhance their growing skills at a free, hands-on workshop in St. Charles County.

Scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the St. Charles County Extension Office, this session will focus on low tunnel gardening a technique that can help extend the growing season and improve crop yields.

Low tunnels, which are simple protective structures placed over crops, help shield plants from extreme weather and pests while creating a more controlled environment for temperature and moisture.

Workshop participants will learn how to build and maintain these tunnels, select the best materials, and choose crops suited for tunnel production.

The session will also provide practical tips for maximizing productivity, making it valuable for both home gardeners and small-scale farm operations.

Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to implement immediately in their gardens or farms, enhancing their ability to grow fresh, healthy produce year-round.

This free event is open to the public, offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and expert guidance.

For further details, interested individuals can contact Eli Isele at 636-970-3000 or via email at elihuisele@missouri.edu. Don’t miss this chance to elevate your gardening success with low tunnel techniques.
