The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is inviting landowners to take part in a forest management workshop on September 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Higbee.
The event, hosted on private property, is aimed at helping landowners gain practical knowledge and tools to improve woodland management on their land.
The workshop will cover a variety of important topics, including how to identify and control invasive species, techniques for timber stand improvement, and the benefits of using prescribed fire as a management tool. By attending, participants will be able to better understand how to maintain healthy, sustainable forests and improve habitat for wildlife.
The day will begin with a brief indoor session, followed by a guided hike to demonstrate techniques in the field. MDC encourages participants to dress appropriately for the weather, as much of the event will take place outdoors. A complimentary lunch will also be provided.
Registration is required at https://mdc.mo.gov/newsroom/mdc-invites-landowners-forest-management-workshop-sept-26-higbee. After registering, attendees should contact MDC Forester Hayden Dorrell by email at hayden.dorrell@mdc.mo.gov or by phone at (573) 416-5114 to receive the event location.
