The University of Missouri Extension is offering a valuable seven-part webinar series designed to help you achieve maximum yield during the upcoming season.
“This will be a great webinar for aspiring and beginning farmers, and for seasoned growers looking to sharpen their game,” says University of Missouri Extension horticulturist Justin Keay. “This series has all the classes to help growers build a solid foundation to support successful production of vegetable crops.”
Running Tuesdays from January 6th to February 25th, 2025, these evening sessions (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM) will cover a wide range of topics essential for vegetable crop management.
Here's a taste of what you'll learn:
- Planning for Success: Get a solid foundation by learning about crop planning strategies.
- Soil Matters: Understand the importance of soil management and plant nutrition for optimal growth.
- Conquering Weeds: Discover effective weed control methods and the benefits of mulching.
- Watering Wisely: Master irrigation management and fertigation systems for efficient water use.
- Pest Patrol: Learn integrated pest management techniques to keep your crops healthy.
- Harvesting for Safety: Understand proper produce safety practices for a successful harvest.
The series concludes with a farmer panel discussion, offering valuable insights from experienced growers.
"While this series is geared towards vegetable producers who sell their crops," says Keay, "anyone with an interest in growing vegetables is welcome to attend." All sessions will be recorded and available for later viewing by registrants.
Scholarships are available for qualifying beginning farmers in some counties.
