The University of Missouri Extension is hosting a series of workshops this fall focused on farm leases, aimed at helping landlords and tenants navigate lease agreements in today’s changing agricultural environment. Sessions will be available both in person and online to accommodate participants’ schedules.
“Farm leases are a popular topic given the current ag environment and the changing conditions,” says University of Missouri Extension agricultural business specialist Mary Sobba. “This program helps landlords and tenants understand the terms and expectations to develop a fair agreement for both.”
Workshop topics will cover current cash rents and trends in Missouri, key items to include in a lease, types of farm leases, and guidance on when and how to terminate a lease.
Participants will also engage in a case study to apply their learning in practical scenarios. Each attendee will receive take-home materials to support continued understanding and implementation.
The in-person workshops will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, in Macon, and at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, in Montgomery City. An online session is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, offering flexibility for those unable to attend in person.
