Lincoln University of Missouri is continuing its "25 in '25" initiative, building on the momentum of last year to drive the University toward future success.
A key focus of this effort is the involvement of Lincoln University scientists in a multistate team led by Ohio State University, working to advance climate-smart agricultural practices.
This partnership is centered on farmer-driven research and innovation aimed at promoting sustainable farming across the Midwest.
The project is backed by a five-year, $10 million grant awarded to Ohio State University from the USDA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative’s Sustainable Agricultural Systems (AFRI-SAS) program.
Lincoln University’s participation in this initiative highlights its commitment to supporting historically underserved farmers in Missouri by introducing them to climate-smart and innovative farming methods.
“Lincoln University’s leadership in this initiative reflects our commitment to supporting historically underserved farmers in Missouri by equipping them with innovative and climate-smart practices,” said Tunsisa Hurisso, a soil scientist and research and extension assistant professor in the LU’s College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences. Hurisso serves as a co-principal investigator and lead coordinator for the project at LU.
The collaboration between Lincoln University, regional farmers, and researchers aims to improve climate resilience, sustainability, and productivity within the agricultural sector.
By partnering with farmers, the University is working toward a more sustainable and prosperous future for farming communities throughout the region.
This project is an important step in Lincoln University’s ongoing mission to drive innovation and excellence in agricultural sciences, in line with the "25 in '25" initiative.
