Twenty-four 4-H clubs across Missouri received a boost for their local food security efforts thanks to the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation's 2024 Drive to Feed Kids grants. This marks the fourth year the Foundation empowers young leaders to tackle hunger through the 4-H Feeding Missouri program.
"Empowering Missouri's 4-H families to live their pledge of 'hands to larger service' brings great honor to our agricultural community," said Ashley McCarty, Executive Director of Missouri Farmers Care Foundation. "Drive to Feed Kids equips youth with tools and resources to make a positive impact in their communities, ultimately brightening days for families facing food insecurity."
"4-H clubs continue to show incredible creativity in using these grants," adds Maria Calvert, State Ag Educator at Missouri 4-H. "Many are not only addressing immediate needs but also developing sustainable solutions for the future."

Collaboration is key to this initiative. Missouri Farmers Care Foundation's Drive to Feed Kids and 4-H Feeding Missouri join forces annually to raise awareness and resources against food insecurity. During spring, 4-H clubs engage in a friendly competition through food drives, fundraising, and volunteering at food pantries. This partnership not only fights hunger but also allows youth to fulfill their commitment to community service.
"4-H'ers' dedication and innovative ways of helping others truly inspires me," remarked Lupita Fabregas, Senior Program Director of Missouri 4-H. "Through our efforts to raise awareness, educate, and motivate action, we can create lasting change."
Over the past five years, Missouri 4-H clubs have collectively raised over 1.7 million meals. In 2023 alone, their tireless efforts provided 711,268 meals. The 2024 competition runs until April 30th, and clubs can learn more about participation at 4h.missouri.edu.
This summer, the Drive to Feed Kids campaign continues, and 4-H Feeding Missouri activities remain active at the Missouri State Fair. On Farm Family Day and Missouri FFA Food Insecurity Service Day, hundreds of FFA members will pack meals, and fairgoers can donate to the cause. The partnership aims to replicate the 2023 success, where collaborative efforts generated 1,200,389 meals for Feeding Missouri and its network.
