Homeowners are increasingly recognizing the advantages of incorporating native plants into their landscapes. Because these plants are naturally adapted to local conditions, they generally require less water and fewer pesticides, making them a low-maintenance and eco-friendly choice.
Additionally, native plants create essential habitats for butterflies, songbirds, and other local wildlife, supporting biodiversity in residential areas.
Those interested in exploring the benefits of native landscaping can attend the Native Plant Sale at the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Springfield Conservation Nature Center.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 27 and is free and open to all ages, with no registration required.
Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of native plants sourced from local businesses that specialize in native species. The event also offers a chance to learn more about how to use native plants effectively in home gardens and landscapes.
For more details about the sale, residents can call 417-888-4237 or visit the Springfield Nature Center for information. Additional event details are available online at MDC Native Plant Sale. The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is located at 4601 S. Nature Center Way in southeast Springfield.
