Missouri Native Plant Sale Set for March 28 Event

Missouri Native Plant Sale Set for March 28 Event

By Blake Jackson

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), in partnership with the Runge Conservation Nature Center, will host a Grow Native! Plant Sale on March 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting the community to explore the benefits of native landscaping.

Incorporating native plants into yards and gardens is an effective way to enhance outdoor spaces while supporting local ecosystems. These plants attract pollinators, butterflies, songbirds, and other wildlife, and are generally low-maintenance.

With a wide variety of native trees, shrubs, vines, and flowering plants available, homeowners can find suitable options for nearly any landscape need.

The event will feature five native plant vendors offering a diverse selection for purchase. Volunteers will be on hand to assist customers with loading their plants.

Payment methods may vary by vendor, with some accepting credit cards while others may require cash or checks.

Attendees can also pick up free educational materials, as well as purchase garden signs and books. No registration is required, making it easy for anyone to attend and learn more about native gardening.

For questions about this event, contact MDC Naturalist Austin Lambert at austin.lambert@mdc.mo.gov.
