Missouri Governor Mike Parson has officially declared October as Pork Month in the state. This recognition is a tribute to Missouri's pig farmers and their contribution to the economy, with the state's pork industry ranking seventh in the nation and adding nearly $800 million annually.
Governor Parson emphasized the significance of Missouri's role in pork production, providing nutritious protein both nationally and internationally. He commended the state's pork producers for their dedication to quality and sustainability.
The pork industry has made substantial advancements through genetic research, resulting in cost-effective and nutritious products for consumers. Pork producers are committed to improving sustainability by enhancing efficiency and adhering to the highest ethical standards.
Adam Dohrman, Chairman of the Missouri Pork Association Board of Directors, stressed the industry's responsibility to produce safe, nutritious, and sustainable protein for families worldwide, highlighting the continuous efforts of pig farmers in this regard.
The proclamation ceremony, held at the Missouri Department of Agriculture, featured Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn, members of the Missouri Pork Association, and industry leaders. Governor Parson's declaration serves as a testament to the ongoing dedication of Missouri's pork producers in delivering quality products to consumers locally and globally.
