MU Extension Launches 2025 Custom Rates Survey

MU Extension Launches 2025 Custom Rates Survey

By Blake Jackson

Farmers and agricultural service providers across Missouri are encouraged to take part in the University of Missouri Extension’s Custom Rates Survey, a triennial effort aimed at providing valuable data on the costs of custom farming operations.

The survey collects information on services such as tillage, planting, spraying, harvesting, land management, and machinery rental to help both farmers and service providers make informed decisions. Survey coordinator and MU Extension research analyst Drew Kientzy said the results play a key role in promoting market transparency.

“Whether you’re a farmer trying to budget for next season or a service provider looking to stay competitive, the information from the custom rates survey helps bring transparency to the marketplace,” Kientzy said. “The more responses we receive, the more useful the results will be for farmers, custom applicators, earthmoving contractors and many others.”

Designed to take only 5-10 minutes, the survey captures real-world pricing across Missouri’s diverse agricultural operations and regions. By participating, farmers can better understand current rates, while service providers can benchmark their pricing against statewide averages.

Participants can complete the survey online, print a copy, or pick one up from their local MU Extension center. For more information, contact Kientzy at dkientzy@missouri.edu.

“Don’t miss your chance to help build a more transparent and competitive custom farm services market in Missouri,” Kientzy added.
