Gardeners looking to improve their soil health and boost their crop yields are invited to attend an upcoming workshop on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
The session, hosted by University of Missouri Extension, will explore the essentials of cover crops and soil health, offering participants practical tools to strengthen their gardens while supporting the environment.
The program is designed to help gardeners understand soil as more than just dirt it is a living ecosystem that, when managed properly, can enhance plant growth, reduce the need for added inputs, and improve long-term sustainability.
Attendees will learn how to integrate cover crops into their gardens, manage soil function more effectively, and apply strategies that balance productivity with environmental stewardship.
“This session is where the rubber meets the road,” said organizers, noting that the workshop will focus on actionable steps that can be used immediately in home or community gardens.
The cost to attend is $10. For more details or to register, contact Justin Keay at justin.keay@missouri.edu or call 573-324-5464.
