On September 13, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., the University of Missouri Extension in Howell County invites you to a unique field tour at the Uminn Farm, located 6 miles from the Howell County Extension Office.
This event will offer an in-depth look at native warm-season grasses, including Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem, and Indian Grass.
Participants will gather at the Howell County Extension Center at 1376 Bill Virdon Blvd, West Plains, MO, before traveling to the Uminn Farm.
Teresa and Doug Uminn will lead the tour, sharing their expertise on the establishment and management of these native grasses. The discussion will also cover the benefits of prescribed burning in pasture management.
Haley Schwantz, MU Extension Agronomy Specialist, and Elizabeth Picking, MU Extension Livestock Specialist, will be on hand to provide insights into how these grass varieties can enhance your farming practices and answer any questions.
Water will be available throughout the event, and while the tour is free, registration is necessary due to limited parking.
To register or inquire about accessibility accommodation, please contact the Howell County Extension Center at 417-256-2391.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from local experts and explore the benefits of integrating native grasses into your farm.
