Scott Hays Named Executive Director of MO Pork Association

By Blake Jackson

Effective April 1, 2024, Scott Hays, a fifth-generation pork producer from Monroe City, Mo., is set to assume the role of Executive Director for the Missouri Pork Association (MPA). Currently serving as the President of the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) Board of Directors, Hays will succeed Don Nikodim, who has led the MPA for four decades.

Expressing enthusiasm for advocating an industry he's been passionate about since childhood, Hays looks forward to aiding producers in navigating business challenges, representing the pork industry in Jefferson City, maintaining ties with the University of Missouri, and promoting pork products.

Hays, raised on a Missouri farm, served in the U.S. Army in Europe before returning to expand the family pig farm in Monroe City. He, along with his wife Riss, six children, and 12 grandchildren, values the farm life the pork industry has afforded them.

The MPA Chairman of the Board of Directors, Adam Dohrman, emphasized Hays' extensive leadership experience and dedication to the pork industry as key attributes making him an excellent fit for the role. Hays' involvement extends beyond the NPPC Board, encompassing roles such as Board President of Missouri Agricultural Leadership of Tomorrow (ALOT), membership in the Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Corn Growers Association, Monroe City FFA Alumni, and Missouri Institute of Cooperatives. His prior service includes chairing the MPA Board of Directors from 2011-2012.
