Youth Livestock Showmanship Event at Douglas County

Youth Livestock Showmanship Event at Douglas County

By Blake Jackson

The University of Missouri Extension is organizing a Livestock Showmanship Clinic at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Friday, March 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. This event offers a valuable learning experience for young participants interested in livestock showmanship.

“The Douglas County Livestock Showmanship Clinic is the perfect opportunity to learn more about how to be the best in the showmanship ring,” said MU Extension dairy field specialist Chloe Collins. “Youth will also learn more about what it takes to succeed outside the ring with educational sessions on barn etiquette, nutrition and more.”

Attendees do not need to bring their own animals to participate. The clinic will feature experienced local showmen, livestock, and industry professionals providing hands-on demonstrations and educational discussions.

The event is open to all youths, regardless of 4-H membership. Those interested in joining 4-H in Douglas County can reach out to Katy Taylor at 417-683-4409.

To sign up, visit MU Extension's website or call 417-683-4409. For further details about the program, contact Chloe Collins at chloecollins@missouri.edu.

This clinic is a great opportunity for young livestock enthusiasts to enhance their skills and gain valuable knowledge.
