55 Percent of Missouri Rice Crop Good to Excellent



There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday. Temperatures last week averaged 73.7 degrees, 0.3 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.20 inches, 0.29 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply rated 20 percent very short, 32 percent short and 48 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supply rated 17 percent very short, 35 percent short and 48 percent adequate.

Corn dented was 87 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 84 percent. Corn mature was 31 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 27 percent. Corn harvested was 1 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 2 percent. Corn condition rated 10 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 44 percent good and 6 percent excellent.

Soybeans blooming was 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 96 percent. Soybeans setting pods was 84 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 89 percent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 3 percent, even with the 5-year average. Soybeans condition rated 6 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 42 percent good and 8 percent excellent.

Cotton setting bolls was 98 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 97 percent. Cotton bolls opening was 17 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 28 percent. Cotton condition rated 9 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 30 percent fair and 52 percent good.

Rice condition rated 3 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 43 percent good and 12 percent excellent.
