Beef Operation Tips at Christian County Conference

Beef Operation Tips at Christian County Conference

By Blake Jackson

The Christian County Livestock & Forage Conference will be held from 6 to 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, at the First Baptist Church, 105 Kennedy Ave., in Clever, Missouri.

The event will feature a free barbecue dinner, courtesy of local sponsors including Bank of Billings, Christian County Farm Bureau, Christian County Soil & Water Conservation District, Earlybird Feed & Fertilizer, Nixa Hardware and Seed Co., Phillips Veterinary Services, and Southern Bank of Clever.

University of Missouri Extension agricultural business specialist Wesley Tucker will present on “Bulletproofing Your Beef Operation,” offering valuable insights for livestock producers.

Two additional presentations will focus on drought resilience. Sarah Kenyon, regional grazing coordinator with the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, will discuss strategies for managing warm-season forages, while Ian McGregor, MU Extension field specialist in livestock, will cover cool-season forage management in the context of drought.

“This conference provides research-based information and options for area agriculture producers that can help them make more informed and profitable decisions,” said Tim Schnakenberg, MU Extension field specialist in agronomy. “Space is limited, so register early so you don’t miss this program.”

With space limited, those interested in attending should register by February 17 to guarantee a seat and a meal. To pre-register, visit MU Extension's event page or call 417-581-3558.
