Explore crop management and safety at farm field day

By Blake Jackson

The Hundley-Whaley Farm, Field and Family Day is set to provide a wealth of information for farmers and community members alike.

The free event, scheduled for September 4th at the University of Missouri Hundley-Whaley Extension and Education Center in Albany, Missouri, promises a full day of educational activities and a complimentary dinner.

Attendees can choose from a variety of wagon tours covering topics such as improved forage systems, pasture management, drone technology, and native wildflowers. Experts from MU Extension and industry partners will share their knowledge on these subjects.

For those interested in crop management, MU Extension specialists will provide updates on soybean research and current crop diseases affecting Missouri.

Farm safety and health will also be highlighted, with workshops on preharvest safety and hands-on training in CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, and tourniquet use.

Other topics covered at the event include hydroponics, black vultures, farm succession, and the role of soybeans as a food source. Additionally, 4-H members will be recognized, and Century Farms and Gentry County Extension Council members will be honored during the awards dinner.

The Hundley-Whaley Extension and Education Center, a 375-acre facility dedicated to pesticide evaluations and sustainable agriculture, is hosting the event in partnership with various organizations.
