Jay Schutte, a corn farmer from Benton City, Missouri, has been elected to the National Corn Board (NCGA) during their Corn Congress in Washington D.C.
This prestigious role recognizes Schutte's dedication to the industry, with over a decade representing Missouri corn growers on various boards.
Schutte's experience is extensive. He served on the Missouri Corn Growers Association and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council boards, while also contributing nationally on the NCGA Risk Management Action Team and chairing the NCGA's Ethanol Action Team. He even participated in the U.S. Grains Council Asia Advisory Team.
In his acceptance speech, Schutte emphasized the resilience needed in farming. “Challenges are bound to come our way, but I am determined to work hard on behalf of all growers,” notes Schutte. “It is an honor to be elected to the National Corn Board, and I am committed to showing up everyday to help build markets and protect our right to farm.”
Schutte's two-year term begins October 1st, 2024. He joins four other elected grower-leaders on the National Corn Board: Randy DeSutter (Illinois), Jason Lewis (Nebraska), Jon Miller (Ohio), and Dan Nerud (Nebraska).
The Corn Congress in Washington serves as a platform for growers to elect new leadership, establish policy goals, and connect with congressional representatives and government officials.
Schutte's appointment reflects his dedication and expertise, ensuring a strong voice for Missouri and national corn producers.
