Farmers and livestock producers in Ava, Missouri, are invited to attend an informative evening workshop focused on improving grazing systems, enhancing cow body condition, and building drought-resilient farms.
The event will be held on January 28, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ava General Baptist Church Activity Center, located at 213 E. Webster Avenue, Ava, MO 65608.
The program features three expert-led presentations designed to address key agricultural challenges.
- Chloe Collins, a Field Specialist in Dairy from Mountain Grove, will discuss strategies for building back cow body condition in preparation for spring.
- Elizabeth Picking, a Field Specialist in Livestock from West Plains, will provide insights into setting up a grazing system for improved efficiency and sustainability.
- Tim Schnakenberg, a Field Specialist in Agronomy from Galena, will share tips on developing drought-resilient farms by incorporating native grasses into farming practices.
Attendees will enjoy a complimentary meal, generously provided by the event’s supporters. The workshop is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Douglas County Extension Council, the Douglas County Commission, and the University of Missouri.
