Secretary Rollins Boosts U.S. Agriculture Progress

Secretary Rollins Boosts U.S. Agriculture Progress

By Jamie Martin

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has made many decisions during her first 100 days. She introduced a five-point strategy to lower egg prices and combat avian flu, a step that helped reduce egg costs by 56% for consumers.

With trade deficits near $50 billion, Secretary Rollins has committed to visiting six countries to strengthen agricultural trade. Her goal is to diversify export markets and ensure fair trade practices with global partners.

One major diplomatic success includes an agreement with Mexico under the 1944 Water Treaty. This deal ensures Texas farmers receive their fair share of water from Mexico's Rio Grande tributaries, supporting crucial agricultural operations.

Rollins also launched the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP), providing up to $10 billion in direct financial aid to U.S. farmers. These funds are being quickly distributed by the Farm Service Agency to help counter high input costs and falling commodity prices for the 2024 crop year.

Additionally, Secretary Rollins presented her plan to boost rural prosperity, supporting the President’s mission to reduce government overreach and empower local communities.
