The need for resilient and sustainable farming systems is growing, driving interest in regenerative agriculture. The University of Missouri’s Center for Regenerative Agriculture is at the forefront of this movement, supporting farmers in adopting environmentally friendly practices.
The center collaborates with various stakeholders, including landowners, farm advisors, consumers, and companies, to promote regenerative approaches. These efforts aim to enhance soil health, improve biodiversity, and ensure long-term sustainability in agriculture. By providing tailored guidance and resources, the center empowers farmers to make informed decisions that benefit both their land and the environment.
Missouri Extension, a key partner in these initiatives, is spearheading significant projects to further sustainability goals. Among these is a $25-million soil health grant that focuses on improving land resilience through regenerative practices. In addition, a $10-million USDA-funded program is being developed to advance cover crop and seed production, offering farmers innovative tools to enhance their operations.
These efforts demonstrate the growing recognition of regenerative agriculture’s role in building a sustainable food system. By fostering collaboration and providing targeted support, the University of Missouri is helping pave the way for a more resilient agricultural future.
