The 104th Southwest Missouri All Breeds Performance Test Bull Sale, held on October 28 at the Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, saw a strong turnout, according to Patrick Davis, University of Missouri Extension livestock field specialist.
Thirty-two bulls were sold, with an average price of $4,263 each. Among the bulls, 30 Angus sold for an average of $4,303, one Hereford fetched $3,700, and one SimAngus brought $3,600.
Davis noted, “The top-selling bulls of the sale were Angus bulls from consigners that have consigned in previous sales.” Two Angus bulls topped the sale at $6,000 each.
One was consigned by Gleonda Angus Farm of Miller, Missouri, and sold to Blackjack Springs Ranch of Miller, Missouri. The other came from Brubaker Genetics of Lamar, Missouri, and sold to G&J Anderson Ranch of Selingmann, Missouri.
The only Hereford bull at the sale was consigned by Cork Cattle Co. of Wentworth, Missouri, which has also participated in previous sales.
This bull was purchased by Blackwell Farms of Lockwood, Missouri. Similarly, Show Me Prime Angus Ranch LLC of Sarcoxie, Missouri, consigned the lone SimAngus bull, which was bought by Marion Farms of Pierce City, Missouri.
The long-standing sale was organized by the Southwest Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association, which plans to hold a spring bull sale. For more information, contact association president Brett Naylor at 417-880-6873 or sale manager Chase Hultgren at 417-880-4479.
