Missouri Cotton and Hay Acres Up in 2019

Corn: Planted Missouri area, at 3.20 million acres, is down 9 percent from 2018. Corn for grain was harvested on 2.99 million acres, down 10 percent from last year. The corn yield is estimated at 155 bushels per acre, up 15 bushels from 2018. Production is estimated at 463 million bushels, down 1 percent from last year.

Soybeans: Planted Missouri area, at 5.10 million acres, is down 13 percent from 2018. Harvested area, at 5.01 million acres, is down 13 percent from the previous year. The soybean yield is estimated at 46.0 bushels per acre, up 1.5 bushels from 2018. Production is estimated at 230 million bushels, down 10 percent from the previous year.

Cotton: Planted area, at 380,000 acres, is up 17 percent from 2018. Harvested area, at 368,000 acres, is up 14 percent from 2018. The cotton yield is estimated at 1,330 pounds per acre, down 43 pounds from 2018. Production is estimated at 1,020,000 bales (480-pound), up 11 percent from 2018.

Rice: Planted area, at 187,000 acres, is down 17 percent from 2018. Harvested area, at 173,000 acres, is down 21 percent from the previous year. The rice yield is estimated at 7,370 pounds per acre, down 400 pounds from 2018. Production is estimated at 12.7 million cwt, down 25 percent from last year.

Winter wheat: Harvested area in 2019 is estimated at 390,000 acres, down 25 percent from the previous year. The winter wheat yield is estimated at 63 bushels per acre, up 4 bushels from 2018. Production is estimated at 24.6 million bushels, 20 percent below the previous year.

Oats: Harvested area in 2019, at 6,000 acres, is down 10,000 acres from the previous year. The oat yield is estimated at 47 bushels per acre, up 2 bushels per acre from 2018. Production is estimated at 282,000 bushels, 61 percent below the previous year.

All hay: Harvested area, at 3.36 million acres, is up 9 percent from 2018. The all hay yield is estimated at 2.19 tons per acre, up 0.43 ton from the previous year. Production is estimated at 7.37 million tons, 36 percent above 2018.
