Missouri farmers, rejoice! The University of Missouri Center for Regenerative Agriculture is offering another round of funding to support fall cover crop planting. There's roughly $2 million available to help you improve your soil health and protect your land.
Apply by July 31st (or until funds run out) to receive incentive payments for various cover crop practices. Bethany Bedeker, the Center's cover crop outreach manager, explains: "Cover crops offer numerous benefits, from reducing erosion to enhancing water quality."
Here's what's on the table:
- $30 per acre: Plant cereal rye before your soybeans.
- $40 per acre: Plant a diverse cover crop mix ahead of corn or other non-legumes.
- $15 per acre: Delay terminating your spring cover crops until after May 1st.
- $20 per acre: Let your livestock graze on cover crops.
These incentives are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you meet the eligibility requirements, apply now to secure your funding. Once the funds are depleted, qualified applicants will be added to a waiting list.
Remember, to be eligible, you need to manage the field within Missouri and have a USDA Farm Service Agency farm number.
Don't miss this chance to improve your land and your bottom line! Apply for cover crop funding today.
