Cold, Dry Week Enables Missouri Harvest to Progress



There were 4.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Temperatures last week averaged 44.5 degrees statewide, 4.2 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.09 inches, 0.86 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 6 percent short, 86 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 9 percent short, 88 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.

Corn harvested for grain was 91 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 88 percent.

Soybeans harvested was 71 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 75 percent.

Cotton harvested was 75 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 80 percent.

Rice harvested was 95 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 96 percent.

Winter wheat planted was 77 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 72 percent. Winter wheat emerged was 59 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 51 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 4 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.
