As of November 10, 2024, there were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork across Missouri. The statewide average temperature for the week was 55.4°F, which is 8.9°F above the typical temperature for this time of year. The region saw significant rainfall, with an average of 4.21 inches, 3.49 inches more than usual for this period.
Topsoil moisture conditions varied, with 1% reported as very short, 15% as short, 80% considered adequate, and 4% in surplus. Subsoil moisture levels were also mixed, with 7% rated very short, 29% short, and 64% adequate.
In terms of crop progress, Missouri’s corn harvest reached 93%, surpassing the 5-year average of 90%. The soybean harvest is also advancing well, with 90% of the crop harvested, ahead of the 5-year average of 81%.
Cotton harvesting reached 94%, exceeding the 5-year average of 80%. Meanwhile, winter wheat planting has progressed to 86%, slightly above the 5-year average of 81%, and 64% of the planted wheat has emerged, which is ahead of the 5-year average of 61%.
The condition of winter wheat is generally positive, with 68% rated as good, 22% fair, and 6% excellent, although 1% is considered very poor and 3% poor.
