Missouri corn farmer Jay Fischer of Jefferson City was re-elected to the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) board of directors as the corn sector director during the annual delegates meeting in Calgary, Canada, July 27. Fischer began his service to the U.S. Grains Council board in 2021, following 8 years as an advisory team member working on programs to increase exports of U.S. corn and corn co-products.
“As a lifelong farmer and active supporter of the U.S. Grains Council for more than 14 years, it has been a privilege to serve as your at-large director for the last two years,” noted Fischer in his address to voting delegates. “Growing up, my grandpa’s world was a radius of 30 miles from his home. Now, I have the benefit of being involved in an organization that consistently proves that work 3,000 miles away is directly impacting my farm.”
Fischer has been a member of the Missouri Corn board of directors since 2009. He has served the state’s growers as Missouri Corn Merchandising Council secretary and vice-chairman, and Missouri Corn Growers Association president, vice president and secretary/treasurer.
