The University of Missouri Extension is organizing the first-ever Direct Marketing Beef School on Aug. 17-18 in Union, MO, targeting cattle producers engaged in selling beef directly to consumers. The program, distinct from previous Beef Feedlot Schools, offers valuable training in meat science and marketing beef to the public.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced beef marketers, including a successful family-owned beef company that started from scratch and now operates a thriving retail shop.
The two-day event covers essential topics such as identifying the perfect harvest time for cattle, understanding the journey of beef from pasture to plate with local connections, and adding value to livestock to maximize profits.
Cattle producers will dive into the world of beef production, gaining insights into the management differences between grass-finished and grain-finished cattle. Led by renowned experts, this school aims to revolutionize beef businesses and turn every opportunity into a profitable one.
The event will take place at the Franklin County Extension Foundation, offering ample learning opportunities and networking for attendees. The program was designed by the originators of the MU Extension Feedlot Schools, along with the MU Extension Value-Added Meats team, ensuring comprehensive and valuable content.
